HARTZ Search invites you to explore an exciting opportunity for the Chief Information Officer (CIO) with our client, Geisinger Health, in Danville, PA. The CIO will serve as an integral member of the executive leadership team and will be on-site. The new CIO of Geisinger will provide vision and leadership for Information Technology (IT) in support of the system’s mission and strategic priorities. The CIO will lead, plan, implement, and maintain IT in support of the clinical enterprise, health plan, academic enterprise, and system affiliates. The CIO will champion process improvement and lean methodologies to execute strategic plans and achieve organizational goals. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience working and influencing effectively in a highly matrixed and relationship-driven culture.
The ideal candidate will be a transformational leader with deep expertise in healthcare IT, data and analytics, and digital health innovation. They will have a proven record of leading large-scale technology optimization, fostering strong partnerships with operational and clinical leaders, and driving technology-enabled improvements in quality, efficiency, and patient and member experience. A collaborative leadership style, strategic agility, and commitment to advancing Geisinger’s mission through technology will be key to success in this role.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Serve as a strategic partner on the executive leadership team, contributing to the development and execution of the organization’s vision and strategic initiatives.
Oversee all aspects of Information Technology to ensure efficiency, quality, service excellence, and cost-effective management of resources.
Develop, implement, and manage annual operating and capital budgets for IT, conducting cost-benefit analyses to recommend solutions that minimize costs while managing acceptable risk.
Establish, communicate, and maintain an enterprise technology architecture that supports the evolving needs of the business.
Oversee the planning, development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of all networks, hardware, and software, including voice and data communication systems, business and clinical applications, and related technologies.
Partner with senior leadership to analyze complex business challenges and ensure that technical solutions align with user needs and organizational objectives.
Identify and leverage technology opportunities to improve business processes and create competitive advantages.
Stay abreast of developments in information services to ensure IT capabilities remain responsive to growth and changing business objectives; incorporate new technologies into future system plans.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to protect IT assets and ensure the integrity, security, and privacy of all data.
Develop and execute customer relationship strategies, tactics, and measurement systems for both internal and external customers, including affiliates.
Lead workforce planning and foster a positive, rewarding environment that supports IT goals, engagement, and professional growth.
Provide leadership for IT governance processes and decision-making frameworks.
Drive best practices in service delivery and foster strong, trust-based relationships at all levels of the organization.
Mentor and develop IT employees through performance management, coaching, and professional development.
Promote a culture of transparency, collaboration, and accountability across the IT division.
Utilize key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to guide data-driven decision-making.
Embrace and model Geisinger’s purpose and values, including its strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Represent the organization on external professional organizations, committees, and initiatives related to information technology.

Provide strategic leadership and vision for all Information Technology functions to advance Geisinger’s mission, strategic initiatives, and operational performance.
Oversee the development, implementation, and optimization of technology systems supporting clinical, business, and health plan operations, ensuring reliability, security, and innovation.
Build and lead a high-performing IT organization that fosters collaboration, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.
Partner with senior leaders to identify and deploy technology solutions that enhance patient care, operational efficiency, and organizational growth.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
Master’s degree preferred
Certifications Preferred:
- CHCIO - CHIME Certified Healthcare CIO (CHCIO)
- CAHIMS - Certified Associate in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (HIMSS)
- CPHIMS - Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (HIMSS)
- CDH-E – CHIME Certified Digital Healthcare Executive
Experience:
- 10+ years of leading IT enterprise functions.
- Experience with successful installation, launch, and maintenance of major health care information systems.
- Proven leadership experience in healthcare information technology within a complex, matrixed environment.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing IT strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
- Strong business acumen, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
